Branden Thomas, owner of Denver’s Maddox Freight & Logistics, had very little firsthand knowledge of the shipping landscape. As Thomas’ business took off, he needed a bank that could also act as a mentor. With his previous bank hesitant to move forward with his new small business, Thomas was referred to KeyBank through the help of a friend. “I had a bank for over 15 years and now they weren’t even willing to help me out,” Thomas explained. “I walked in the door, and they walked me right back out so that was the worst thing.”

As Thomas’ business developed banking needs, he also built his business’s banking relationship with KeyBank. “I was with my prior bank for probably 15 years, and I would never get communication from them the way I get it from Key,” Thomas said.
Results
Now, Thomas manages two trucks and a small team of hardworking people. “Hopefully because of this lucrative industry, we want to acquire two more trucks with the new year coming up and getting new drivers and that’s just the biggest thing right now,” Thomas said. Branden has learned that starting your business doesn’t have to be a solo journey.
