Interview

When you joined Key, did you already have banking experience?

No, I did not have banking experience, although I had cash-handling experience. I was a little nervous at first, but my team and the training quickly made me feel confident. The training is ongoing and I continue to learn. I never felt like I was alone because I was always made to feel comfortable asking questions. This role has taught me how to handle complex situations and turn what could be a negative into a positive. When you focus on the client’s needs, the clients begin to feel more comfortable with you and it makes it easier to help them with their financial needs. Learning to help people navigate financial products has really helped in building my confidence, which helps me do my job more effectively.

What do you like about your role?

My role has allowed me to build so many relationships. My coworkers and I are like a family and together we are helping members of our community navigate their banking and financial needs. We get to know our clients on a personal level. I also admire how everyone is treated like a leader. Management never makes us feel beneath them and we all participate equally.

What do you like most about Key’s culture?

Diversity. You see so many different people from different ethnicities and backgrounds while working here. From my experience, Key is more diverse than other companies. I also like how we are encouraged to be accountable and any good work we do gets recognized.

Key is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
