Charlie Stocks
Charlie Stocks joined KeyBanc Capital Markets in 2023 as a Managing Director and is responsible for leading Key’s Technology M&A Advisory practice.
Charlie has more than 25 years of investment banking experience, leading a wide variety of merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions across the technology industry. He started his career with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. At Goldman Sachs, Charlie was initially a member of Real Estate and joined the Technology Group in 2000, where he was a member of the TMT merger advisory team. After resigning from Goldman Sachs in 2004, he went to Reuters Group plc to be Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development for the Media division. At Reuters, Charlie led multiple acquisition transactions for the division, the formation of a joint venture with the Times of India group, and the dissolution of joint ventures with Dow Jones and Microsoft in addition to advising on commercial relationships with Google Finance and Google News, Microsoft, BBC, and Yahoo. Following Reuters Group, Charlie was a Managing Director in the M&A Group at Jefferies & Co., where he was COO and deputy head of the Business Selection Committee. After 14 years at Jefferies, Charlie joined GCA Advisors to lead its Tech-Enabled Services banking practice in addition to legaltech software coverage. He remained for a year after Houlihan Lokey’s acquisition of GCA in December 2021. Charlie holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
