Ed Fishman is a Senior Advisor focused on mergers & acquisitions and capital raising for payers, payer services, and risk-bearing organizations clients. Ed joined Cain Brothers in 1996 and has over 35 years’ experience advising both public and private companies in a variety of M&A, strategic advisory, and valuation transactions throughout the country. He has worked with many of the Blue Cross Blue Shield licensees, and numerous Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial plans. Ed’s notable transactions include buy-side and sell side engagements for Blue Cross plans (including BCBSLA, HCSC, Independence Blue Cross, Capital Blue Cross, BCBSNC, BCBSAL, Florida Blue, BCBSMA, BCBSND, and Blue Cross of Idaho), numerous Medicaid managed care plans (including CareSource capital raise, sales of Affinity Health Plan to Molina Healthcare, MDwise to McLaren Health, Emblem Health MLTC membership to GuildNet, Network Health to Tufts Health Plan, Health Plus to Amerigroup, and Hudson Health Plan to MVP Health Care), acquisition of Healthspan by Medical Mutual of Ohio, the sale of John Deere Health to United HealthCare, and the acquisition of Windsor Health Plans by Munich RE. He has also worked with hospital and long-term care clients on both managed care and provider engagements, including the University of Michigan, Cambridge Health Alliance, University of Toledo, VNSNY, and Isabella Geriatric Center.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining Cain Brothers, Ed worked at Chemical Securities, where he directed the public finance healthcare investment banking activity and served as financial advisor to the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

Education

Ed is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Oberlin College. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
