Katherine A. Kirchhoff
Cain Brothers Experience
Kathy Kirchhoff is a senior banker in Cain Brothers, a division of KeyBanc Capital Markets’ Post-Acute Care group. Kathy joined Cain Brothers in 2007 and has nearly 40 years’ experience assisting organizations with capital funding, financial planning, feasibility analysis, and strategic planning. For nearly 30 years, her work has been focused on the healthcare industry, with specific attention on the senior living sector. Kathy has completed transactions totaling more than $6 billion. In 2023 she initiated efforts that led to new statewide legislation modifying the eligibility criteria and enabling certain nonprofit senior living facilities to use the California Health Facilities Financing Authority, which provides financial assistance through loans, grants, and tax-exempt bonds.
Prior Experience
Before joining Cain Brothers, Kathy was at Herbert J. Sims & Co., privately held broker-dealer serving the senior living sector, as Senior Vice President and manager of the Western Regional Office. Prior to joining Sims, she spent 15 years at KPMG, LLP, where she progressed from college intern in the tax department to Western Area Director for the National Senior Care Services Consulting Practice.
Education
Kathy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting from California State University Fullerton, and a Master of Business Taxation Degree from Golden Gate University. She is a Certified Public Accountant.
