David Morlock
David Morlock is head of Cain Brothers national Health Systems Practice, focusing on major health system, physician group, academic medical center, and health plan transactions. Mr. Morlock joined Cain Brothers in 2016 with 30 years of experience as a health system executive, including CEO and CFO roles. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, affiliation agreements, strategy development, joint ventures, and major capital investments to meet the needs of healthcare organizations’ specific circumstances.
Notable and innovative transactions and advisory engagements include UVA Health’s acquisition of three hospitals from Novant, the divestiture of MDwise health plan by Indiana University Health to McLaren, ProMedica’s divestiture of Paramount Advantage health plan to Anthem, Trinity Health’s divestiture of Gateway Health Plan to Highmark, affiliation between Fairview Health and the University of Minnesota, Mercy Health’s divestiture of its outreach lab to Quest, Fairview’s divestiture of its home health business to AccentCare, and numerous physician group and hospital change of control transactions.
In addition to his investment banking practice, Mr. Morlock is a frequent author and speaker on health care industry issues and trends.
Education and Background
Mr. Morlock earned a BS in Finance from Slippery Rock University and an MBA from the Owen School of Business at Eastern Michigan University. He has served on numerous corporate and philanthropic boards in his career, and is currently on the board of Arbor Research, a national healthcare research collaborative headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dave lives in Michigan with his wife, Bonnie.
