Key supports employees who have lost a loved one with time off, funeral concierge services and resources to help them through the grief.
Bereavement leave
Time off from work with pay is available in the event of the death of a family member.
Funeral concierge services
Funeral concierge services available through MetLife include providing up to three quotes based on employee specifications:
- Location of funeral home, cemetery, florist, social security office, etc.
- Obtaining pricing for services
- Negotiating the best and final price on behalf of the employee
In addition, after the loss of a loved one MetLife provides access to counseling and support services through a national network of highly trained practitioners.
- Up to five face-to-face grief counseling sessions;
- Information about support groups in your area; and
- Unlimited telephone consultations.
Grief counseling and legal/financial assistance
Grief counseling is available through the Live Well & Thrive Employee Support & Wellness Program for you and your family members (up to 6 sessions at no cost per family member) affected by the loss of a loved one. Employees can call the program directly to find a counselor and schedule an appointment.
In addition, after the loss of a loved one, The Hartford provides you, your eligible beneficiaries and immediate family members with legal advice, financial planning and emotional counseling for up to one year from the date the claim is filed. Up to five sessions are included.
Financial assistance for hardship events, including the loss of a spouse, is also available through Key’s Hardship Relief Program.
