About Gary W. Poth
Gary W. Poth, Executive Managing Director, is the head of Key Family Wealth, serving a select group of families across the country with significant wealth and complexity. In his role, Gary leads the national Multi-Family Office practice, delivering customized advice and services through its Seattle, Cleveland and NYC offices employing investment management, philanthropic, trust and estate planning, and banking solutions to ensure successful outcomes across generations.
Prior to his current role, Gary served as the Key Private Bank Senior Executive for KeyCorp’s East Ohio district, leading all wealth management activities for the Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Youngstown, and Columbus markets. He also served as National Director of Strategy and Sales for Key Private Bank, where he was responsible for development of the overall strategic direction of the business, including sales.
Before returning to Key in July 2009, Gary served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Strategy for the Private Client Group at National City Bank and, in an earlier role, as the Chief Financial Officer for National City’s Private Client Group and Allegiant Group. Gary began his career in 1995 when he joined Ernst & Young’s consulting practice. After leaving E&Y, Gary held several senior banking positions with both JP Morgan and KeyBank. He also launched a management consulting practice that provided services to the banking industry. Prior to his banking career, Gary served as a naval submarine officer for six years.
Gary graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron and summa cum laude with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas. Gary serves on several boards, including as Chair of the Finance Committee and Trustee at the Holden Forests & Gardens and Chair of the Cleveland United Way Humanitarian committee.
