Auto-Pay Questions
Auto-Pay lets you set up automatic and recurring payments from a deposit account, such as a checking account, to a credit card account. When you set up Auto-Pay, you can choose from three different types of automatic payments:
- Monthly minimum payment due
- Fixed or Custom amount
- Statement balance
It’s easy to set up Auto-Pay or adjust your payment election anytime in online banking.
Here’s how:
- Sign on to online banking
- From your account dashboard, choose the KeyBank credit card that you want to set up the Auto-Pay for.
- Select "Manage Auto-Pay" and follow the prompts.
During setup, you’ll have the flexibility to choose a monthly payment date that works best for you. Your options will range from fifteen days after your statement date until your due date.
It may take up to 14 calendar days (or more depending upon circumstances) for KeyBank to complete the initial set up for Auto-Pay.
To be sure your payments are made on time, you should continue making them until you receive confirmation from KeyBank that your setup was successful. The confirmation will include the date your first Auto-Pay payment will occur.
Once the Auto-Pay is fully processed and not returned for insufficient funds, your credit card account will be credited as of the payment date. Your available credit will update after your payment fully posts to our credit card account.
If you select a payment date that falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be made and dated on the business day before that weekend or holiday. If the account you send the payment from is held at KeyBank, we’ll withdraw the funds for your payment on the business day before that weekend or holiday.
If the account you send the payment from is held somewhere other than KeyBank, the withdrawal will generally occur after the payment date, but the exact timing depends on your financial institution’s processing schedule.
If you select Minimum Due, the Auto-Pay Payment will be the minimum payment due shown on your Credit Card Statement in the box marked “Minimum Payment Due,” and will not take into account any additional payments or credits posting to your Account after the Credit Card Statement is sent, except that we will never allow the amount of the Auto-Pay Payment withdrawn from your Deposit Account to exceed the Current Balance outstanding on your Account.
If you select Statement Balance, the Auto-Pay Payment will be the amount shown on your Credit Card statement in the box marked “New Balance,” and will not take into account any additional payments or credits posting to your Account after the Credit Card Statement is sent, except that we will never allow the amount of the Auto-Pay Payment withdrawn from your Deposit Account to exceed the Current Balance outstanding on your Account.
If you select Custom or Fixed amount, you authorize KeyBank to adjust the amount of the Auto-Pay Payment so that the Auto-Pay Payment will never be greater than the New Balance indicated on your Credit Card Statement and will never be less than the Minimum Payment indicated on your Credit Card Statement. If you select either of these options, you will need to select a specific dollar amount you wish to be deducted from your Deposit Account and applied against your Credit Card Account as a payment. Note that if the specific dollar amount you choose is less than the Minimum Payment set forth on the Credit Card Statement, KeyBank will increase the amount of the Auto-Pay Payment to equal the Minimum Payment set forth on the Credit Card Statement. Note that if the specific dollar amount you choose is more than the New Balance set forth on the Credit Card Statement, KeyBank will decrease the amount of the Auto-Pay to equal the New Balance set forth on the Credit Card Statement.
If your Auto-Pay payment amount is more than the credit card’s balance, the automatic payment amount will be decreased to your current account balance at time of payment.
If your automatic fixed payment does not equal the monthly minimum payment due, the automatic payment amount will increase to satisfy your minimum payment due.
